P.L. Gaus, a long-time Ohio resident, became an expert on Amish culture as he spent many years observing and exploring it in his homeland (one of the largest Amish and Mennonite populations in the world). The first of Gaus's Amish-Country Mystery series, Blood of the Prodigal, An Ohio Amish Mystery, was published in 1999; six novels have been written in the series to date and there is a seventh on the way. Currently Gaus lives in Wooster, Ohio with his wife of 33 years, Madonna.
